About the Department

Shri Sharda Bhavan Education Society's Shankarrao Chavan Mahavidyalaya, Ardhapur, District, Nanded is located in Marathwada region of Maharashtra State. The college is about 20 Km from Nanded. The college has been established in 2001-02 with Arts, Commerce, and Science Faculty.

The Department of Physical Education and Sports was established in 2001, with an aim to provide overall fitness of the students and to deliver top quality education through modernized teaching techniques. Modernized Teaching methodology emphasis on skill development may it be any game, sports or the conduct of various academic or sports activities. Students are exposed through visits and trainings in sports trainings and teaching institutes. Regular activities are organized to enhance event management skill of the students.

The Department has qualified, experienced Teaching faculty with average teaching experience of more than 15 years and highly efficient Sports coaches. Pedagogy focuses on teaching with demos, models, videos, PPT, etc. Department provides a variety of opportunities for students to improve their general health and fitness through fitness and recreational related activity classes. The main focus of the Department is on the practical exposure to physical education in a learner friendly atmosphere. The Department is committed to train students not only physically but also psychologically and emotionally and to prepare them to give their best in today's competitive world.

AIMS OF SPORTS DEPARTMENT

To create sports atmosphere through recreational activity.
To create and develop fundamental facilities of Sports.
To maintain sports culture in campus and society.
To maintain and develop physical, mental, social responsibilities of students.
To achieve all round development of students, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and sports learners.
To aware the sports persons and learner about present status and amendments in sports regulations.
To create sports participation opportunity for all gender and physically challenged students.
To develop and promote programs of mass physical activity.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT

Organize recreational sports events through intra/extra mural activity.
Develop sports fields for regular use.
Organize Inter collegiate zone, central zone, university level tournament of various sports events.
Promote professional Personality development programs.
Organize special coaching sessions to develop skills of sports.
Organize Workshops, webinar, conference for rules regulations and new sports activity.
Arranging sports activity for disabled students in college and society.

Vision

Physical education is an integral part of the total education of every child in kindergarten through high school & college. Quality physical education programs are needed to increase the physical competence, health-related fitness, self-responsibility and enjoyment of physical activity for all students so that they can be physically active for a lifetime. Physical education programs can only provide these benefits if they are well-planned and well-implemented.
