National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The scheme provides an opportunity to the students of class 11th and 12th of schools at +2 board level and students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies at colleges and universities in India to participate in various government community service activities and programmes.
The unit of the NSS Dept. commenced in the year 2003-04 at Shankarrao Chavan Mahavidyalaya, Ardhapur, District Nanded, Maharashtra. Many public-oriented the different session on various topics as well as innovative activities have been implemented under the National Service Scheme in the vicinity of Ardhapur. Till date NSS has taken initiative in the constructive work like.
Water conservation, tree plantation, volunteering campaign, women empowerment, blood donation, drug de-addiction, AIDS awareness, voting awareness, health awareness camps, soil conservation, pollution, farmers' meetings, forest plantations, animal disease diagnosis camps, etc. activities are being implemented. Dr.Mukhtaroddin Khaji and Dr.Nilkanth Lande are running the unit in the capacity of program officers are working till date.
